Quick answer
Griffin is viable in PvE but is not the default farming or tower recommendation. Use it when the Claw/Descent package is already your strongest investment or the route permits sustained close range; otherwise Oracle is the safer default.
Who should use Griffin in PvE
Griffin is the close-range Battleborn pressure, Griffin's Descent, Talon Tear, and self-sustain option. In PvE, the real objective is to clear Chapters and Sky Tower consistently, including the waves and the boss at the end.
The recommendation below assumes the listed pieces are within a usable grade of one another. A significantly higher-grade piece can be the correct temporary choice even when it is not the final target.
- Griffin Claw's base Rank 5 effect builds Battleborn from Main Weapon damage within 7m; ten stacks begin Griffin's Descent for ten seconds. Later Griffin upgrades can reduce the required stacks.
- Talon Tear deals close-range damage and Griffin pieces add duration, healing, enemy attack reduction, and close-range critical damage.
- Griffin is a leading PvP choice and a strong boss option when sustained close-range uptime is possible.
Recommended equipment
- Weapon: Griffin Claw
- Griffin Ring and Helmet are the close-range core
- Oracle Amulet and Armor are tested mixed options
- Oracle Boots are generally preferred for general PvE when their grade is comparable
Character skins and weapon skins only contribute their effects when the matching skin is owned and equipped. Do not copy a skin-dependent result without the skin.
Runes and in-run skill priorities
| Layer | Priority |
|---|---|
| Runes | Circle effects for close-range damage; Ring of Agony when the route can maintain its coverage; Frostshock or another control effect when it makes forced close range repeatable |
| Draft first | close-range damage; Circle coverage; survival and control; an answer to ranged waves |
How to play the PvE version
- Use the highest route the build clears repeatedly, not the highest route it cleared once.
- Keep the loadout fixed while testing a chapter so gear changes are not mistaken for route improvements.
Substitutions and upgrade path
- Use full Oracle for the most consistent Chapter and Tower path.
- Use Dragoon for ranged AoE farming when enemy groups, not close-range survival, are the limiting factor.
Mistakes that ruin this build
- Overbuilding defense for chapters you already clear
- A pure boss setup with no answer to dense waves
- The build loses much of its identity when it cannot stay within 7m.
- When another set's Descent is active, the Descent-conditioned Rank 5 effects of Griffin Helmet, Armor, and Boots are halved. Griffin Ring and Boots base bonuses that explicitly count nearby monsters do not count players; evaluate their Godforge effects separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is full Griffin the best PvE build?
Not automatically. The Griffin-centered version keeps the pieces that define its role, then uses mixed pieces when they improve the PvE objective.
Should I use this if my recommended pieces are lower grade?
Usually not immediately. Preserve the working higher-grade build, develop the replacement pieces, and compare recorded runs with the exact build attached before switching permanently.
Does the recommendation include skin effects?
Only when you own and equip the matching character or weapon skin. A skin effect is never treated as part of the base hero or weapon.
